The best thing about the cold seasons in New York is how acceptable it is to wear deep, dark lipsticks. But as spring turns to summer, I should probably trade in my dark lips and matte skin for a more dewy look with bright lip shades.

After a few trips to ULTA and Target, I’ve got quite the awesome summer lip shade collection.

My favorite lipstick brands are typically NYX and Kat Von D. The great colors, and smooth texture and finish of NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks made me buy almost every color it comes in. And Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick has such long-lasting, rich colors that it’s absolutely worth the $20 price point. But I decided to try some new brands this time around.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick had such nice packaging that I bought in and tried it, and though the peach glossy tone Chihuahua is perfect for summer, the sticky finish is something I won’t wear everyday.

I also decided to also branch out and try a few new products from drugstore brands, like Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid and Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor — both of which are super reliable for beautiful colors.

The L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss and Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid colors were super bright for summer and had a nice finish. But the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor is definitely my favorite of all, with a gorgeous pink color that will look nice on pale skin and when I get a tan. It even smelled delicious when I put it on.

Now that you have my recommendations, what are your go-to summer lipsticks?
